Sharon talks to Dare 2 Magazine's Beauty Editor, Amanda Harrington about her creations:

AH: What first inspired you to make a range of your own?

SMcG: While trying to help a client who’d developed a severe petrochemical sensitivity I realized there was virtually nothing on the market that was petrochemical-free. I then went on a mission to learn as much as I could as fast as I could to both educate myself and provide something healthy and respectful for my client’s skin.

MVAH: You have a strong commitment to the quality and high potency of your products – where do you choose to source from and what sets these magical oils apart apart from the rest?

SMcG: I source from around the world and now work with only two suppliers who truly understand my obsession with quality. I do source some oils direct but only from those who consistently provide the quality I expect and who are also happy to accept returns if I’m not satisfied. These oils are premium grade so the secret is not to expose them to high temperatures during the manufacture process. This preserves both the aroma and the beneficial properties of these precious essential oils.

AH: What is the key difference between organic oils and synthetic oils you may find in certain skincare brands?

SMcG: Organic raw ingredients (oils and essential oils) are derived directly from nature and carry the plants energy or life force. These plant extracts have a natural affinity with the skin and the body whereas chemicals are dead/inert and carry no life force at all. They certainly do not have a natural affinity with the skin or the body, and in my view, chemicals are toxic and compromise the health of the underlying skin tissue.  I choose to cover my skin only in ingredients that are beneficial to my health.

AH: Your facial treatment the MV Radiance Therapy receives high praise amongst international beauty writers. I for one thought it was incredible experience and highly effective treatment. As a master facialist and skincare specialist, what advice can you give to a first time patron? How does she know what facial to choose when she's making the appointment?

SMcG: I now perform only my signature treatment – MV Radiance Therapy.  Once someone experiences this treatment a traditional facial is a poor second so now I stick with what I love and the client loves. I only alter the choice of products depending on skin type and condition.

AH : Fill us in on what you think is a perfect MV organic morning and evening skin care regime would involve?

SMcG: I’m addicted to my morning cleansing ritual – I start with my Cream Cleanser, removing it with a steamy hot muslin cloth. I usually repeat the hot compress 3-4 times and this prepares my skin for the deeper cleansing action of the Energizing 9 Oil Cleanser. I massage 1 pump over my face and neck then hop in the shower. This protects my skin from the drying effect of the water and penetrates more deeply thanks to the steam from the shower. I pat my skin lightly then spritz with my Rose Hydrating Mist before applying a tiny amount (half a pump) of Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser. Too much moisturizer will over-burden the skin so my philosophy is always ‘less is more’. When in doubt – use less.

At night I repeat the cream cleansing ritual then spritz with Rose Hydrating Mist before applying  (during the hot summer months) 2 drops of pure jojoba or (during the winter months) 2 drops of the Rose Plus Booster – because Rose relaxes me beautifully for bed.

AH: What are your three favorite beauty tips that all women could start doing right away to improve the over-all health of their skin?

Sharon McGlinchey’s 3 Step Beauty Guide -

1.Eat more essential fatty acid oils and omega 3,6 and 9’s OR cheat a bit and  treat yourself to a bottle of Udo’s Oil. Good health stores sell it and it nourishes the skin from the inside out. Also terrific for anyone who suffers from eczema.

2. ALWAYS remove your make up at night

3. Not directly affected to the health of your skin but I love this one – smile more! It knocks years off you : )

AH: Talk to us through your best seller – the rose moisturiser..

SMcG: Mmm – what can I say, it’s the first product I ever developed. It feels beautiful, smells great, is good for everyone including the most sensitive of us. It doubles as a day and night cream (depending what you add to it), is a brilliant make up base which is why make-up artists are such huge fans and I can’t live without it.

MV Organics – Loyal devotees include supermodel Rosie Huntington- Whitely, makeup artist Dotti, facialist to the stars Nichola Joss, actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Watson.
