Art for the Earth
Stitch Project is setting out to raise environmental awareness; by hosting artistic events, this non-profit organisation hopes to increase environmental awareness and inspire a greater appreciation of the world around us.
Founded by Max Gates-Fleming & Fred Mann, these two men in their mid-twenties wanted to reinvigorate environmental concerns by recapturing the attention of the public. Although both had a basic understanding of what it meant to be ‘eco-friendly’ by recycling and turning off the tap, after reading more about the environment, ecosystems and nature, they found themselves becoming increasingly invested in the health of the planet. Driven to reinvigorate what has been a fairly exhausted message, they were bursting with ideas to deliver it in an inspiring and engaging way.
Now with a base of 15 individuals joining their project, they are busy preparing for an incredible line up of events that centre around creativity and public involvement. From art auctions to photography competitions, exhibitions to short film festivals, Stitch hope to educate people on how to make small, simple differences that will have a lasting, positive effect on the world. This group of eco-initiators are determined to increase the buzz about sustainability, hoping that informed individuals who make small changes to their own lives will, eventually, lead to changes on a grander scale: in business, industry and government.
