Amy Hall is part of a new wave of British knitwear designers. Based in Dalston, East London, she has been working with the industry to promote British fashion designers and the use of wool for the last five years. She worked with Britain’s largest yarn producer to promote the adoption of knitting through workshops in East London and in department stores like Liberty and Peter Jones.
After working with Clare Tough in 2009 she decided to launch her own label, where each piece is carefully handmade from high quality (predominantly British) yarn, in early 2010. Her debut collection was well received by the industry with Grazia, Time Out, NBC and Susie Bubble all becoming fans of her work. Online retailer ASOS even selected her as one of their leading designers to launch their new online boutique concept ASOS Marketplace.
Amy Hall has just launched her second collection for Autumn Winter 2011. Again, each piece is handmade for her customers using high quality pure British lambs wool and Peruvian alpaca with mohair. Using these raw materials and with a variety of knitting techniques, Amy has sculpted garments with flat and chunky cabled panels alongside figure-hugging rib to create flattering, dramatic pieces.
